Cinco de Mayo for Los Frutos del Café!
On Monday, May 5th 2008 Los Frutos del Café hosted a "Cinco de Mayo" inspired celebration and information night. Val and Maria would like to thank all of the volunteers for their hard work. The event was a big success thanks to the great turnout from supporters of Los Frutos del Café and clients of Las Chicas del Café. So once again, a big thanks to all who helped organize, promote, and of course attend this event.

This year our BEANS, BOOKS & BYTES project benefited children in the schools of the communities of San Lucas, Las Sabanas, Quebrada Honda, El Cipian, and La Manzana. The schools ranged from small elementary schools with less than 100 students, like Escuela Ruben Dario ( El Cipian), Jesus de Nazareth ( La Manzana) to the secondary schools of almost 600 students in Las Sabanas and San Lucas.
The project consisted in giving a small help towards the great necessities in each school. That ranged from school supplies like pens, pencils, crayons, to computers to set up their own computer classes, to rewarding with uniforms those students with exceptional attendance records, and whose economic conditions keep them from attending school in proper uniforms and shoes.
